ENHANCING YOUR
SPORTING PERFORMANCE
One Sports Psychologist for a US Olympic team says that 80 -
90% of an Olympic athlete's performance is in the mind. My experience is
that 90% of all sports people do not know this and only train the body.
When the power of the mind is introduced into sporting performance, the results
can be dramatic.
There are usually two methods used to enhance your sporting
performance with hypnosis. The first involves clearing any underlying
emotional blocks which may be inhibiting your performance or limiting your
motivation and desire to succeed. The second combines a process of
hypnotic visualisations and suggestions (often backed up by cassettes or CDs)
and NLP resource building procedures to stimulate your incentive and also
support, reinforce and refine your physical and sporting skills.

Case Studies
Over the years I have worked with people
in a variety of sports ranging from a trampolinist to a small-bore rifle
shooter, several snooker players, golfers and darts players.
Syd came to me in 1996 for help with his
darts game. He was playing to a high (national) level but was not
consistent and although he regularly won his way to the championship finals,
would often lose to inferior players in the final. One week after our
second session he scored a perfect nine-dart finish (180, 180, 141, game shot)
and went on to win first prize in that tournament. For a whole year after
that he was on top form and was virtually unbeaten for two years.
Alan was really struggling with his golf
when he came to see me. Captain of his club, he was achieving nothing,
playing badly and from a low handicap. When playing he was frustrated and
once he hit a few poor shots, lost confidence in his game which then got even
worse. We cleared the emotional blocks which were holding him back (from
his childhood) and within months he had won several trophies and improved his handicap
by two points.
Peter was a professional golfer who was
not playing to his potential. After a few sessions of hypnosis and some
simple techniques to enhance his left-right brain co-ordination, he felt much
more focused and his game improved considerably.
