Hypnosis, in fact, is a perfectly natural and pleasant state
of relaxation and inner awareness - almost without exception you feel calm,
peaceful and relaxed whilst you are being hypnotised.
Will I know what is going on?
Yes - you are in control and aware of everything that is
happening around you. Hypnosis is a positive state of relaxed
wakefulness.
The therapy that takes place to help alleviate your problems
can take a variety of forms. Sometimes hypnotic suggestions are used to
re-programme the sub-conscious mind - the inner mind which we access when we
relax a little. Using regression it is possible to uncover the cause of
the issue which can then be released permanently. Often the therapist uses
visualisations or other techniques to heal the issues you are working on.
I also use a very new technique - EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) - to clear
negative feelings quickly and deeply.
What is the success rate?
Very good when you consider that most hypnotherapists are
working privately, often dealing with other practitioners' failures, and have to
be successful to survive. One of the most important things is that you
feel comfortable and at ease with your therapist. This is of particular
importance in hypnotherapy, in which the value of the treatment is enhanced when
you have confidence in the practitioner. For this reason it is recommended
that you book a single session at first and then decide if you want to proceed
with more.
Guarantee
Some people require only a few sessions, whereas others may
need a course of therapy. However, at no time will you undertake a
prolonged course once your treatment is successful. The beauty of
hypnotherapy is that if it doesn't work it doesn't work quickly - I can usually
tell within a short time whether I can help or not with your problem.
My guarantee is my honesty - I always say I have a 'no
bullshit clause' in my work and if I can't help I will say so. This,
together with my high success rate, is probably the reason I receive so many
referrals from ex-clients and GP's. Anti-smoking therapy usually consists
of one session.
What are the U.K.G.H.E. and the N.C.H.?
The initials stand for the "UK Guild of Hypnotist
Examiners" and "The National Council for Hypnotherapy".
These prestigious bodies exist to protect both the patient and the
therapist. No therapist can be accepted by these institutions unless he or
she can conform to the exacting standards laid down by them. In this way
the patient is assured of the best attention while being treated by the
practitioner. All members are bound by a Code of Ethics emphasising
integrity and competence, ensuring a high standard of ethical conduct.
